Marvin McLaughlin Honored as 2010 Henry F. Schricker Award Winner

The Honorable Judge Marvin McLaughlin was celebrated last night as the 2010 Henry F. Schricker Service Award winner. With family, friends and dignitaries in attendance, the Judge was praised for living a life of “service before self” which was the motto of the former Governor.

In his acceptance speech, the Judge talked about setting aside politics and working for the good of your community, county, and country.

Judge McLaughlin was recognized by current County Commissioner Jennifer Davis, and his children Alan McLaughlin and Lynette Altman. Dwayne Arlt, representing Congressman Joe Donnelly, gave the Judge a Congressional Recognition Award. State Representative Nancy Dembowski also praised the Judge in a brief address.

After announcing the discontinuance of the Eagle Plaque Auction, auctioneer Ben Osinski, his wife Dorothy and Mark Smith raised $6,700 for the Indiana University Health-Starke Hospital Foundation. That put the Eagle Plaque Auction at
over $30,000 since its inception.
