News from the Knox Center Township Fire Department

The Knox Center Township Fire Department received a grant for $44,650 from the Assistance to Firefighters grants awarded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Fire Chief Kenny Pfost told WKVI that the grant money will be used for a breathing air compressor, a cascade system and a truck-mounted air fill station.

The Fire Department reorganized at its recent meeting. Kenny Pfost was retained as Fire Chief. The Assistant Fire Chief is Wayne Noah, Dave Morrow is the Secretary/Treasurer. Morrow was also named a Captain along with Dave Combs. Bob Cole and Tony Mildice, Jr. were named as Lieutenants. The Fire Department has 25 volunteer fireman who responded to over 200 calls last year.

Ben Warren retired from the Fire Department after 47 years and was honored with a plaque. Tim Burton also retired after 15 years with the Department.
