Three Starke County Veterans Fly to Washington, D.C. on Honor Flight

Three World War II Starke County Veterans were flown to Washington, D.C. Tuesday as part of the Honor Flight Network’s program to honor the surviving members of that generation who fought in that bloody war.

Traveling to Washington were Jack Milner, Chuck Johnson and Floyd Brown. All are members of VFW Post #748 in Knox.

The trio left from Midway Airport in Chicago, and will return home today.

The Honor Flight Network was established to honor veterans of World War II. In all, there were 16 million men and women who served during the war.

Veterans come from all parts of the country to take part in the daily services, which have been promoted nationally by former U.S. Senator Bob Dole, who is a World War II veteran.
