North Judson Man Arrested on Charges of Auto Theft, Criminal Mischief

Danny Manns

Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a North Judson man after he was allegedly involved in a bar fight and ended up destroying a motel room Wednesday night in North Judson.

Police were called to the Route 10 Bar and Grill after an alleged fight had occurred between two individuals. The suspect, Danny Manns, left the premises. Police later found the suspect vehicle in the park and it was unoccupied. Police learned that the vehicle Manns was driving belonged to Joe Brown of Knox who said Manns should not have been in possession of the vehicle. Police searched the area and was unable to find Manns.

A little while later, Manns allegedly kicked in a door to a room at the Oak View Motel and reportedly started a confrontation with two occupants in the room and left. Police later found and arrested Manns and took him to the Starke County Jail.

The owner of the bar has already filed a case with the help of Jason Steinberger and his law firm and is demanding Manns pay for all the damages he caused during the fight.

The Starke County Prosecutor is expected to file charges against Manns that include Auto Theft, a Class D Felony, and misdemeanor charges of Criminal Mischief and Trespass.

The vehicle involved in the incident was later released and the owner, Joe Brown, told police that a .22 caliber handgun was missing from the vehicle. This information was given to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department after it was learned that the gun may have been recovered in a traffic stop involving two other suspects. It is unknown how Manns got the vehicle from the suspects in the LaPorte County case.
