Southern Indiana Music Boosters Group to Hold Fundraiser for Drew Shearin Memorial Scholarship Fund

Drew Shearin’s legacy has lived on through his loved ones and his music during these past few months. The Knox High School student died in a car accident in Starke County in October.

The Silver Creek High School Band Booster program in Sellersburg, Indiana is hosting a benefit concert for the Drew Shearin Memorial Scholarship fund. Coordinator, Hannah Gibson, said the fundraiser includes performances by students participating in the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble event.

“We will have two concerts. One will be on Sunday for all of the group one and group two solos and trios which are the more advanced pieces. Then there will be one on Monday for everyone else that is doing one that is not group one or in group two,” explained Gibson.

The first show is Sunday, January 22nd at 3:00 p.m. ET and the second show is on Monday at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Silver Creek High School.

Hannah Gibson is the Drum Major of Silver Creek Marching Band and she and Drew Shearin had become good friends while attending a Drum Major Clinic at Indiana University in 2010.

“He was such a great guy and he helped me through so much. I was not confident, at all, with my ability to be Drum Major and I just was feeling down and nervous about that and he helped me so much. I figured this would be a good way to repay him.”
