Suspect Shot by Police after Pursuit

Police surround Albright's vehicle after he stopped and fled on foot

A Plymouth man is dead after a police pursuit in Marshall County.

Last night around 8:30 p.m. ET, an officer with the Argos Police Department attempted a traffic stop in the area of Michigan Road, north of Argos, and the driver did not stop. The officer was attempting to pull over the truck after the driver committed a traffic infraction. The officer pursued the truck, driven by Mark Albright, 62, of Plymouth.

Albright led police north on Michigan Road to U.S. 31 and to U.S. 6 in the pursuit. Albright abruptly stopped his truck on Quince Road and ran from the truck. During the course of the foot chase, police say Albright brandished a gun and shot at officers. Police returned fire, striking Albright and killing him. No police officers were injured in the incident.

With any police action shooting, Indiana State Police Detectives are investigating the incident. The Argos Police Department was assisted in this incident by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Walkerton Police Department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
