Two LaPorte County residents were arrested this week after an investigation found they were allegedly responsible for the distribution of heroin and other controlled substances.
Officers from the LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit obtained an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Tyler Lukac and he was arrested without incident after they spotted him in a parking lot in LaPorte. He will face two counts of Dealing in Schedule I Controlled Substances, a Class B Felony. He is being held in the LaPorte County Jail with no bond.
20-year-old Shelby Nichols was arrested on an arrest warrant after she was picked up in the roadside park along U.S. 20 near Rolling Prairie. She is charged with two counts of Dealing a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. She is being held under $35,000 bond in the LaPorte County Jail.
Both Lukac and Nichols will be in LaPorte Circuit Court for initial hearings on Friday.
LaPorte County Sheriff Michael Mollenhauer stated that LaPorte County law enforcement is aggressively targeting those who are distributing heroin and other controlled substances in LaPorte County.
