Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon this Wednesday; Pro Bowler Mike Aulby to Make Appearance

The Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon is this Wednesday, April 11th at 6:00 p.m. CT, at Bowlaway Lanes in Knox where native Hoosier and Hall of Fame Pro Bowler, Mike Aulby, will be in attendance to sign autographs and help cheer on the teams in the tournament.

Junior Achievement Board President, Bridget Markin, says there are great teams already signed up and there is room for three more five-member teams.

“They would just need to give me a call at (574) 772-6291,” said Bridget Markin. “We ask that each bowler on the team raise $70 and then there is a $25 registration fee. For the teams that reach their goal of raising $350 in pledges, they receive a free pizza and beer or pop. We do a game of chance. What we do is we draw tickets and the first person whose name is drawn that bowls a strike wins the pot.”

Markin tells us about Junior Achievement.

“Junior Achievement is a program in Starke County that reaches kids in grades two through 12 and basically teaches them about financial lteracy. We ask volunteers and business people from the community to come in and teach each of those classes.”

Even if you’re not bowling in the tournament, come down and watch all of the great teams participating in the event, support Junior Achievement and talk to pro bowler, Mike Aulby. He told us that he will have pictures there to autograph and he will be happy to answer your questions. We reminded him to bring his bowling ball to show us how it’s really done!
