Knox Harvest Days Committee to Meet Tonight

Wythogan Park

The Knox Harvest Days Committee will be meeting tonight at the H&R Block office in the Knox Mall. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. CT and anyone willing to help with the August Festival is encouraged to attend. Michelle Bachtel is in charge of the festival this year and says she would like to take it into Wythogan Park this year.

“Wythogan Park is a beautiful park,” she said. “There’s a lot of shady areas. There’s shelters and playground equipment. At this point, I don’t know if we are going to have a carnival, but I think taking it to the park would take us back to the history of the Harvest Festival. We could focus on the beauty that Starke County has to offer. On top of that, it is still centrally located. It’s close to the courthouse, and we’ll be able to capitalize on all of that but have the luxury of being in a park type setting.”

Michelle has been a past board member and volunteer for the Plymouth Blueberry Festival and feels that will be an advantage.

“Since I have some pretty good contacts in there, I’m able to get committees formed through them. We might have vendors willing to come in the week before the Blueberry Festival. Again all of this is verbal, nothing is set in stone. That is what we need volunteers for. I need all of them to bring this to fruition.”

Michelle has one more announcement.

“If anybody is looking for sponsorship forms, or vendor applications you may call me at the office at 772-2316, or email me at michelle@harvestfest.org, and I would be happy to get those right out to you.”

That meeting again is 6:30 p.m. CT at the H&R Block office in the Knox Mall.
