North Judson Town Board Discusses Five-Member Transition

North Judson Town Board

The North Judson Town Board received an update regarding the transition from a three-member board to a five-member board this week. A public meeting regarding the possibility has been scheduled for Thursday, April 12th at 5:00 p.m. CT.  The meeting, which will likely take place at the Civic Center, will feature a representative from the Indiana Association of Clerk-Treasurers, and will give an idea of what requirements must be met in order to make the transition.

The board also awarded the cemetery mowing bid to Maple Leaf Landscaping at a cost of $700 for each mowing. According to the bid, a maximum of eight mowings will take place for the season from May 1st to November 1st, and any additional mowings would have to be approved. Two bids were received, but one bid was rejected because proof of insurance was not provided.

The Safe Routes to School program may be coming to North Judson as well, as the board is working on getting more information together regarding the program. Safe Routes to School provides grant funds to improve sidewalks for students to walk to school, as well as signs and other improvements. The board is working closely with North Judson-San Pierre Superintendent Lynn Johnson in order to get a list of what is needed for the grant.
