Knox Community Schools Undergo Bus Inspection

Knox Community School Superintendent A.J. Gappa gave a report to the school board about the recent bus inspection. He says the state police have changed the procedure in inspecting buses.

“In the past, they used to do in the summer and we had weeks to prepare our buses. Now, because the state has cut back on the number of troopers that do the inspections, they have to do them throughout the year,” said Gappa.

The bus inspection was conducted in April.

“We had 34 buses go through inspection. Many of the bus drivers would have to come right off their route and pull up for inspection without our mechanic having a chance to go over them. Of those 34 buses, 26 passed inspection on the first round and all but three of those buses passed within that day,” said Gappa. “We had two buses that had minor repairs that had to be sent out through the dealer mechanic and those were back within a week. All 34 buses have been inspected and are in full operation.”
