Spring Clean-Up Is Here For Knox

It will be a busy week in the City of Knox this week. It’s Spring Clean-up week! Knox Mayor Rick Chambers suggests utilizing two big dumpsters to throw out large, bulky items. The dumpsters will be located behind City Hall.

“Two dumpsters will be available throughout the weekend,” explained Chambers. “On Saturday, the 19th of May, we will also have Waste Management in town with a truck to pick up any electronics. Anything with a cord you want to get rid of, take it to the parking lot across from City Hall and there will be a truck available to take those items for no charge.”

Shred documents for free on May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“We have a truck coming in to shred paperwork. Any paperwork that anybody has in the City of Knox can be brought up to the parking lot in front of City Hall and someone will help you shred your papers,” said Chambers.

Regular trash, tires, paints, batteries and household hazardous items will not be accepted during this event. Those may be disposed of during Starke County Environmental Days in June.

The Knox City-wide Yard Sale is also scheduled for Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Knox Moose Family Center will be providing breakfast and lunch for shoppers. The permit fee has been waived for this event for Saturday only. If you would like to hold your sale for more than the designated sale day, you will need a permit from City Hall.
