Bass Lake Summer Splash Kicks Off Next Friday

The Bass Lake Summer Splash begins Friday, July 27 for a three-day run.

The Miss Teen Bass Lake and the Little Miss and Mr. Bass Lake contests are tomorrow, July 21, at the Bass Lake Property Owners Association Building.

The Little Miss and Mr. Bass Lake contest begins at 4 p.m., followed by the Miss Teen Bass Lake at 6 p.m. There is a $2 admission charge.

The Bass Lake Summer Splash will be packed with exciting events including historic tram rides, a feature that had been dormant for quite some time. Coordinator Jim Nearman says the tram will only be operational one day.

“Saturday, July 28, is the only day we’ll run the historic trams,” explained Nearman. “We’re going to have four tram trips. The first will be 9 a.m., followed by one at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.”

The tram will wind its way around the area with many historical sites to learn about along the way.

“The history we’re going to talk about and stop at goes back 120 years. We’ll visit Winona and right behind Winona we’re going to stop at the old Bass Lake Fish Hatchery,” said Nearman. “We’ll also stop at the Bass Lake Cemetery and talk about famous authors who have visited Bass Lake. It’s amazing at what has happened over the years at Bass Lake.”

Nearman said the tours will begin on the south end of the lake.

“The Bass Lake Property Owners Association building is where the Bass Lake Tram will start and finish and the cost is $3 per seat,” Nearman explained.
