Plymouth Man Airlifted To South Bend Following High-Speed Crash

A Plymouth man riding a motorcycle at high speeds was injured in a crash in Marshall County early Wednesday morning.

A Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy saw a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Lincoln Highway west of Rose Road. The officer attempted to catch up to the driver as he continued at a high rate of speed.

A short time later the motorcycle ran off the road in the area near Union Road. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle after going through a grassy area and flipped several times.

Plymouth EMS was called to the scene and 34-year-old Michael Van Vactor of Plymouth was transported to the hospital and then airlifted to South Bend. He is listed in stable condition at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending at this time. Excessive speed and alcohol and believed to be factors in this accident.
