Medaryville Man Sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court

Pulaski Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn

A Medaryville man was sentenced after pleading guilty to a Class B Felony charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine.

Jamie R. Elkins pleaded guilty to the charge in a plea agreement with the state in Pulaski Circuit Court. As part of that agreement, charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Chemical Reagents and Marijuana were dropped, along with a felony charge of Unlawful Possession or Use of a Legend Drug.

Judge Michael Shurn sentenced Elkins to 10 years in the DOC with eight years suspended. The two years of his sentence shall be executed on in-home detention through the Cass/Pulaski Community Corrections Program. This sentence will run consecutively to another incarceration term he is serving. The Judge noted in the order that he is already in the Community Corrections program in another case and is making substantial progress on rehabilitation. In addition, Elkins was placed on probation for eight years with the understanding that he comply with rules with the probation department, he must abstain from the consumption or possession of any alcoholic beverages or use of any other drug unless prescribed by a doctor and he cannot enter an establishment that primarily serves alcohol.
