Plymouth Man Arrested on Credit Card, Fraud Charges

A Plymouth man has been incarcerated after a fraud incident.

Plymouth police were notified Wednesday morning that a credit card and checks were stolen from a car parked in the 700 block of Ferndale Street. The credit card had been used at a gas station on West Jefferson Street shortly before the theft was called into the police department.

Later that morning, 1st Source Bank officials told police that someone attempted to cash one of the victim’s checks. He had identified himself before fleeing the bank. Wednesday evening, the police were notified that the suspect, Cameron Lawton, was observed on bank video. Lawton was later taken into custody and transported to the police department for questioning where he allegedly admitted to stealing the credit card and using it. He also reportedly told police that he did forge a check belonging to the victim.

Lawton, 21, was booked into the Marshall County Jail on felony charges of Forgery, Credit Card Fraud and Theft. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash.
