Discounted flu shots are available through Indiana University Health LaPorte VNA Services to help protect against seasonal flu and pneumonia.
Vaccinations are available to those aged nine and older with no appointment needed at the office at 5955 E. 600 N. in Hamlet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The VNA also offers high-dose vaccinations for those aged 65 and older as well as other vaccinations for those between the ages of 18 and 64.
A yearly flu vaccine is the first important step in protecting against flu viruses. Officials at IU Health LaPorte and Starke hospitals encourage you to practice good hand washing hygiene and to cough or sneeze into your sleeve or elbow and not into your hand.
The seasonal flu vaccination is $25 and the pneumonia vaccination costs $70. Private insurance will not be billed and you are responsible for payment in full. The VNA accepts cash, checks or Medicare assignment.
