Knox Community School Board Discusses Update on Referendum

Superintendent A.J. Gappa

The Knox Community School Board was updated on the public question that will be presented to voters in the school district on May 7. Superintendent A.J. Gappa gave this status to the school board members.

“The DLGF did approve the ballot language to be placed on the referendum ballot so that information now goes to the local county election board who will have a meeting to adopt that resolution and move forward from there,” said Gappa.

The meeting by the election board is expected to be held on or before Feb. 20. The county auditor needs to certify the question by Feb. 20 before it can be sent to be printed on an official ballot.

The question pertains to the proposed Knox Community Elementary School building project. The Palmer Wing would be reconstructed and parts of the structure remodeled to help bring that part of the elementary school up to today’s infrastructure needs.
