Among the many items discussed during the West Central School Board’s meeting Thursday night, Superintendent Charles Mellon said the textbook adoption was approved which included reading textbooks for students in kindergarten through the sixth grade.

The board also discussed hiring a data coach and the corporation has received funding for that position.

“We are looking to pay for that position out of some Title II Part A funds as well as some of our PACE money,” said Mellon. “That was approved by the board and we will be posting that position in the near future.”

The data coach will be used to help break down a student’s progress as testing scores are compiled and dissected. That information will be relayed to the teacher who can then assess where that student is and plan remediation activities if necessary.
