All Counties Report Higher Unemployment Rate

  
 
The unemployment rate for January isn’t a bright one.

Starke County’s rate rose from 10.5 percent in December to 12.5 percent in January. Starke County ranks sixth in highest unemployment in the state.

Indiana’s rate rose slightly to 8.6 percent.

Pulaski County reported 8.5 percent unemployment in December; Marshall County, 10.4 percent; LaPorte County, 12 percent (ranked eighth in the state); Fulton County, 10.6 percent; St. Joseph County, 10.8 percent; and Porter County, 9.3 percent.

Hamilton County reported the lowest unemployment rate at 6.7 percent.

All of Indiana’s 92 counties reported an increase in unemployment in December.
