PEO Chapter Reorganizes, Funds Available for Assistance

The local Starke County chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, or PEO, has reorganized and Vice President Erin Bourff says the organization has plenty of leaders to help area women seek educational opportunities.

“Many of the women who are involved in the community and many of the PEO chapters are in the educational field themselves and want to promote this outside of their jobs and help women who are in need of assistance,” said Bourff.

Any local women who are seeking assistance are urged to sign up online for funding assistance.

“It’s www.peointernational.org. You can learn a little bit more about the requirements of each of the
sponsorships and get some more information to fill out and ask questions,” Bourff explained.

There are several funds made available for assistance.

“PEO Educational Loan Fund is for a woman who desires education and is in need of financial assistance. The applicant must be recommended by the chapter and have two years of completion of course study. Another one is International Peace Scholarship which provides scholarships for international women to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada. The PEO Continuing Education Grant is one for United States and Canadian women whose education has been interrupted and who finds themselves in a situation where it’s necessary to return to school to support themselves and their families,” said Bourff.

For more information on how to apply for these grant opportunities or more information on PEO, visit the website at www.peointernational.org. Your inquiries will be forwarded to the proper people.
