Pulaski County Public Library Now Offers MP3 and Magazine Downloads

The Pulaski County Public Library is working hard at expanding its services, and to that end, the library has added digital magazine and MP3 music file downloads to its collection. The library’s website now offers access to more than 3 million downloadable songs, including access to The Freegal Music Service, an online database with legal music files that do not expire and are compatible with nearly all devices.

Pulaski County Public Library resident cardholders are eligible for three MP3 downloads per week, available online at www.pulaskicounty.lib.in.us. Library officials expect Freegal will appeal to patrons of all ages and musical tastes, and librarians will be happy to assist users with the new service.

It’s not just music that they’re offering, however, as Zinio for libraries offers full digital copies of many popular magazines viewable on your computer or mobile device. The library subscribes to 50 popular and specialty digital titles, including Cosmopolitan, Food Network Magazine, and National Geographic. All magazines offered are complete editions, with some including enhanced content such as audio and video. Resident cardholders will receive unlimited access to this entire collection. Titles do not have to be returned and do not expire. There is no waiting list and no need to return issues.

This new digital collection complements the library’s collection of 134 print magazines, which will remain available.

Library Director MacKenzie Ledley said she expects Freegal and Zinio to be very popular with library patrons, and she hopes the expansion will benefit the community and draw more interest to the library. For more information, call (574) 946-3432 or visit www.pulaskicounty.lib.in.us.
