Applications are being accepted now for the Indiana Conservation Officers Organization’s Karl E. Kelley Memorial Youth Camp.

Conservation Officer Keith Wildeman explained that this camp is held once a year in West Lafayette at Ross Camp.

“Camp is open to boys and girls both who have completed the fifth and sixth grades,” said Wildeman. “This camp is going to be held from June 16 to June 22.”

Conservation ethics are taught along with a variety of other activities.

“Kids are going to go through our hunter education and boater education programs. They will get to experience a range day where we shoot over 20,000 rounds of live ammunition and bows and arrows. They will also experience a water day with our ICO Scuba Team, plus boat rides and canoe rides. That Friday we take a canoe trip on Sugar Creek,” said Wildeman.

The first 120 kids who sign up will be able to participate. The cost of the camp is $300 and that includes lodging, meals, a camp t-shirt and all activities.
