LaPorte Police Working on Safety in the Month of May

The LaPorte City Police Department will be involved in an Operation Pullover Blitz from May 17 to June 2.

Officers will be working overtime to enforce seat belt laws, especially during the Memorial Day holiday. More than 100 hours will be devoted to patrolling the streets to make sure travelers are buckled in safely. Traffic safety is the number one priority during the Memorial Day holiday.

LaPorte police will also be working hard to make sure drivers are operating vehicles safely around motorcycles. Throughout Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month this month, officers will be targeting drivers who lack awareness of the motorcycles around them. The LaPorte City Police Department supports motorcycle rider training and education and notes that motorcycle drivers should be properly licensed and trained.

Officers have been directed to address any motorcycle licensing violations aggressively, including juveniles that are operating mopeds and committing traffic violations.
