A Second pretrial conference and plea agreement deadline date in the case of Kathleen Holt has been rescheduled for Thursday, July 11 at 8 a.m. in Starke Circuit Court.

The extension was requested by the defense last week in an effort to consider an evaluation to determine if Kathleen Holt is competent to stand trial. Court officials indicated that the jury trial has not been reset at this time.

Holt is being held on a charge of Murder after she allegedly shot her boyfriend, Ron Worker, in a home they shared at 1740 S. 550 E. in Knox. The alleged shooting occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 13 of this year.

After the shooting, Holt reportedly called the 911 dispatch center and announced that she had shot her boyfriend. Ron Worker sustained a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at IU Health Starke Hospital. A preliminary autopsy showed that Worker died of exsanguination, or blood loss.

A not guilty plea has been entered in Starke Circuit Court for Kathleen Holt . She is charged with one count of murder, which carries a sentence of 45 to 65 years if she is convicted on that charge.

She remains incarcerated while she awaits a possible jury trial.
