One adult and one juvenile were taken into custody after Pulaski County police allegedly found drugs in a car after a traffic stop Friday morning.
A Pulaski County deputy was patrolling on U.S. 421 when he saw a vehicle operating without a working passenger side headlight or a license plate light. The officer pulled over the vehicle just south of Medaryville and found a 17-year-old male operating the vehicle. As the driver was attempting to locate the requested license and registration, the officer reportedly saw a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle.
The juvenile and 22-year-old Dustin Hughes were then asked to exit the vehicle and the officer reportedly found marijuana and items used to manufacture methamphetamine. In the back seat, the officer lifted up a pizza box and found a green soda bottle with a cloudy liquid inside with a white substance. The officer recognized this as a one-pot methamphetamine lab and contacted members of the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab team to come to the scene.
The juvenile was released to his parents and asked to report to the probation department. He was cited for improper headlight and license plate light and for not having his driver’s license in his possession.
Dustin Hughes was questioned by police who reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana in the vehicle. Hughes was searched and the officer found a controlled substance for which he had no prescription. He was booked into the Pulaski County Jail on a preliminary charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine.
