Exciting Night of Racing Planned at Plymouth Speedway

A big modified race featuring five NASCAR stars is taking place on the dirt track at Plymouth Speedway this Saturday.

A NASCAR analyst for the SPEED Channel, Bob Dillner, says it’s going to be quite the show.

“It’s going to wild this weekend at Plymouth Speedway,” said Dillner. “Anyone listening to this show here today, I would get out to Plymouth this weekend because I think you’re going to have the best racing of the weekend with those modifieds on the dirt! I’m just really excited for everyone at Plymouth to have the success that they’re having now because that’s really good for racing in general.”

Ken Schrader, David Reutimann, Justin Allgaier, Kenny Wallace and David Stremme will be driving in this featured race. Dillner remarked how Stremme is looking forward to racing at the track that is near his hometown of South Bend.

“He was talking about how excited he was to go to Plymouth and how good that track was doing honestly since converting from the pavement to the dirt,” said Dillner.

He adds that it’s not uncommon for NASCAR level drivers to continue to drive in events such as the one scheduled at Plymouth Speedway on Saturday.

“I think a lot of the guys that are real racers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – they like to go back to the short tracks whether it’s on dirt or asphalt. It doesn’t make a difference. You’re at Plymouth this week, which used to be an asphalt track, now that it’s dirt it’s very successful. I think you’ve got guys like David Stremme…he’s from the area and he likes to go back and give back to the short track rank at some of the places or areas that he grew up at,” Dillner said.

While the NASCAR drivers will be pitted against the regular season modified drivers, more divisions of racing will round out an exciting night of entertainment.

Pits open at 3 p.m., the grandstands open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. ET. Ticket and pit pass information is available online at www.plymouthspeedway.net.
