The LaPorte City Police Department recently wrapped up a 17-day Click it or Ticket campaign.
According to Captain Tom Health, 201 citations and 168 warnings were issued. Police issued 145 of those citations for seat belt violations, two were for child restraint violations, 21 were for speeding and 27 were for various other offenses.
Officers made four arrests on a charge of Possession of Marijuana; one arrest was for a charge of Possession of Paraphernalia. A total of 40 grams of marijuana was seized.
Heath notes that the LaPorte Police Department is proud to support the Click or Ticket campaign. Seat belt use saves thousands of lives across America each year. National Highway Traffic Administration estimates that 11,949 lives were saved by the use of seat belts in 2011.
