The Marshall County Commissioners met Monday morning to discuss mitigation site and acquiring wetlands in the proposed 7th Road construction project.
A contract was discussed with USI in as INDOT will not be participating in the bidding process. That contract was less than $100,000.
A new route from U.S. 31 and the new INDOT interchange is planned and construction is anticipated to begin in 2014. A new road will be constructed west to Michigan Road and connect to Oak Road and Pine Road.
At the moment, the county is attempting to acquire right-of-ways from property owners and two parcels are undergoing condemnation proceedings.
The bid letting process is expected to begin in January due to the delay in acquiring properties and all new construction should begin sometime next year.
