The Melody Drive-In Theater will be back to normal operations this weekend, weather permitting, after running with only one screen in operation following the destruction of the first screen by strong winds that toppled the screen and caused extensive damage to the ticket booth. The first screen was destroyed earlier this month and owner Fred Heise said the replacement was a huge expense to the business.

Fortunately, they focused their efforts on getting the screen replaced and they are on schedule to open this weekend in full operation. According to the drive-in’s Facebook page, the newly-constructed first screen will show World War Z, rated PG-13, followed by The Purge, rated R.

The second screen will show Now You See Me, rated PG-13, followed by Man of Steel, also rated PG-13. The box office opens at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Movies are scheduled to begin around 8:35 p.m.

However, the company noted that start times for screen one are subject to change pending construction.

Starting July 2, the theater will show Despicable Me 2 and Monsters University on screen one, with The Lone Ranger and a yet-to-be-determined second feature on screen two.

Theater employees are excited to be back to two screens again, and hope to see you at the movies this weekend!
