South Central Superintendent Submits Resignation

The superintendent of South Central Schools has stepped down after a criminal charge was filed against him.

The Times newspaper released information that Christopher Smith was arrested on May 20 in LaPorte County after an alleged battery incident occurred between Smith and a friend. Smith faces one misdemeanor charge of Battery and has posted a $3,500 surety bond.

The publication noted that an initial hearing was held in the case on May 22 and School Board President Don Satoski II told The Times that they will be looking for Smith’s replacement.

Smith had been the superintendent at the South Central School Corporation since 2006.

He submitted his resignation on Wednesday.
