Court Hearing Set for Today for Greg Wireman

An initial hearing in a case involving Starke County Sheriff’s candidate Greg Wireman will be held today at 10 a.m. ET in Pulaski Superior Court.

Greg Wireman was summoned to appear in court on a charge of Impersonating a Public Servant. The charge was filed May 31 in Pulaski County after Starke County officials recused themselves from the case.

The incident happened in February of this year when Donna Wheeler was having trouble getting a hold of police when salespeople arrived at her home that she thought were suspicious. She called Greg Wireman as he was somebody that she knew.

Court documents indicate that Wireman detained three people in a white van who were going door to door in the area claiming to be selling vacuum cleaners and cleaning supplied. The salespeople claim that Wireman said that he was a corrections officer but did not have the proper police identification with him. Wireman allegedly searched two of the salespeople.

The matter will be handled by Pulaski County Prosecutor Stacey Mrak and Wireman has stated that he has hired his own attorney and believes he will be exonerated on the charge.
