LaPorte City PD to Conduct Impaired Driving Patrols

The LaPorte City Police Department worked 39 hours of aggressive driving enforcement in June during which time officers wrote 78 citations and 63 warnings. The majority of those citations were written for speeding and seat belt violations.

Sixty hours of Operation Pull Over funded seat belt patrols will be scheduled in July and officers will be working a number of DUI: Taskforce Indiana funded impaired driving patrols. LaPorte officers will be working with other agencies in the LaPorte County DUI Taskforce.

Officials note that the number of motorists that are driving impaired is decreasing which has resulted in a lower number of arrests so far this year compared to the same time last year.

The LaPorte Police Department will continue to enhance traffic safety in the community.
