Shop with a Cop Event a Huge Success

The Kankakee Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129 conducted a successful Shop with a Cop event on Sunday.

FOP President Chris Kisela said the members were able to assist 61 Starke County children purchase new school clothes and school supplies. The event was held at Kohl’s in Valparaiso.

Each child got to spend $100 to $125 on new items for school.

This event was possible thanks to many fundraisers held by the members of the FOP throughout the year and numerous donations from distinguished members of the community. Kisela added that donations toward the program are always welcome. The FOP plans to help 100 children next year so fundraising efforts will increase.

Officers from all agencies in Starke County make up the Kankakee Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129: Knox City Police Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Hamlet Police Department, North Judson Police Department, Indiana State Police and Conservation officers. Starke County dispatchers, jail officers, Starke County Posse members, staff from the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office, and members of the Knox-Center Township Fire Department help in the fundraising efforts.
