Sobriety Checkpoint Planned in LaPorte County

A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted during the evening hours of Aug. 23 in LaPorte County. The checkpoint will be held in conjunction with Operation Pull Over Blitz #76.

The LaPorte County DUI Task Force will be conducting this enforcement effort at a location based upon the analysis of available crash data, impaired driving arrests and officer safety.

When you are stopped, you will be told why you have been stopped and you will be required to provide your driver’s license and registration. If you are not impaired, and there is no need for you to be detained any longer, you will be released from the stop. A normal stop lasts approximately two minutes.

Troopers from the Indiana State Police, Lowell Distict, will be participating in saturation patrols near the general vicinity of the sobriety checkpoint.
