Three Arrested at Koontz Lake Home

 
 

A three-month investigation led to the arrest of three people in Hamlet on Monday.

Officers from the Hamlet Police Department, with the assistance of the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at 7733 N. Kickapoo in Walkerton where they found items from multiple burglaries that occurred in Hamlet.

Along with the stolen property, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also seized at the scene.

21-year-old Steven Sandoval, 20-year-old Danny Clark and 19-year-old Cassara Craig all of Koontz Lake were arrested as a result of the search warrant. Hamlet officers also obtained a search warrant for DNA samples and fingerprint samples. More charges could be filed against the suspects depending on the results of these samples.

Sandoval faces preliminary charges of two counts of Burglary as a Class C Felony, two counts of Theft as a Class D Felony and Visiting a Common Nuisance as a Class B Misdemeanor. Clark has preliminary charges of Burglary, Theft and Maintaining a Common Nuisance while Craig has preliminary charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Theft and Receiving Stolen Property.

The trio remain in the Starke County Jail with no bond.
