Motorcycle Driver Injured After High Speed Pursuit

A motorcycle driver was injured after crashing during a high speed police pursuit.

On Sunday evening, a Starke County officer noticed a motorcycle riding eastbound from 1100 East in Starke County traveling at over 100 mph. The driver, identified as Joshua T. Heineman, traveled into Marshall County and their officers were advised of the situation.

Marshall County deputies spotted Heineman on U.S. 30 and Redwood Rd. and he continued driving recklessly. The deputies attempted a traffic stop at U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive, but Heineman refused to stop and a high speed pursuit began.

Still traveling at speeds over 100 mph, Heineman fled down county roads. He lost control of the motorcycle on Juniper Road south of 14th Road. Heineman’s motorcycle hit a utility pole and he was ejected. Officers arrived at the crash site a few minutes later and found Heineman with severe injuries. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend and treated for his injuries.
