Keep Pets Safe During Trick-or-Treat Times

Halloween is tomorrow and one issue we might overlook is pet safety.

Suzanne Crider from the Starke County Humane Society says the first order of safety is to keep pets out of candy.

“We have that issue right now with our office cat, Niko,” said Crider. “If we leave the candy out on the front desk, he’s in it right away! Candy is not good for your pets.”

Another suggestion is to take your pet out of the excitement of trick-or-treating.

“Some pets become afraid of costumes while some pets can kick into a watch dog mode. The best thing is to keep them secure and out of the area where they can get into a situation where the interaction would not be what you would want the children to experience.”
