The Knox Board of Works this week approved two motions regarding the water line installation project for the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and Detention Center at the intersection of State Road 8 and County Road 550 East in Knox. Bob Alloy with Territorial Engineering approached the board and explained that the work is still taking place for the county’s portion of the project, but the work for the city of Knox has been completed.

Because of that, Alloy said Mark Milo Enterprises has submitted a bill for the work in the amount of $5000. Alloy recommended approving a payout of $4750 and retaining $250 until all the work is complete.

In addition, Alloy recommended the council deny a $1250 change order that was submitted as well, requesting additional money to cover the expense of Mark Milo Enterprises locating a previous water line. Alloy said the same company actually installed the previous line some 15–20 years ago, and it should not be the city’s responsibility to cover that cost.

The board approve motions to deny the change order and approve the $4750 pay application.
