LaPorte Police Issue Hundreds of Citations During Operation Pull Over Event

 
 

The Safe Family Travel Operation Pull Over Blitz 77 was a success in LaPorte as officers issued 227 citations to vehicle operators in the three-week enforcement.

The LaPorte City Police officers joined more than 250 law enforcement agencies across the state to conduct impaired driving and seat belt patrols. This was to rid roadways of drunk drivers and unrestrained motorists during the Thanksgiving holiday season.

Nearly 100 hours of seat belt patrols and 58 hours of impaired driving patrols were conducted by LaPorte officers from Nov. 8 to Dec. 1. In addition, 137 seat belt citations were issued along with three texting while driving citations. Other citations for other traffic violations including speeding, driving left of center, and disregarding traffic signs were issued. One felony arrest was made and 11 misdemeanor criminal arrests were made as part of the effort, and 212 various warnings were given to motorists.

Operation Pull Over is a traffic safety grant program funded by federal highway safety funds and is administered through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
