Officers Serve Forgery Warrant, Make Three Drug Arrests

A Winamac man who reportedly tried to hide in a closet in order to avoid a trip to jail is behind bars on a $35,000 bond. An officer from the Winamac Police Department responded to a tip that Keith L. Campbell, 44, of Winamac, was at an apartment on Franklin Street last night. Campbell was wanted on two counts of forgery as a C felony.

When the officer arrived, Yvonne Hopkins, 45, reportedly told him Campbell was not there, but he was discovered hiding in a bedroom closet. While in the home, officers reportedly smelled marijuana and found a sizable quantity of the drug. Campbell was booked into the Pulaski County Jail on the forgery charges as well as felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia charges. Hopkins also faces a possession of paraphernalia charge as well as charges of maintaining a common nuisance and assisting a criminal. Eddie Lamb, 39, was also home at the time. He’s charged with maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia. Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Medaryville Police Department assisted with last night’s investigation.
