Marshall County Commissioners Discuss Insurance and Claims

The Marshall County Commissioners heard a report from Mike Miley of Gibson Insurance about the property casual insurance renewal.

He explained that the worker’s compensation had a loss of 111 percent and the automobile portion has an 87.6 percent loss. There were 26 worker’s compensation claims and several vehicle accidents last year.

The good news is the county is taking measures to lower its worker’s compensation claims by implementing a safety committee. Commissioner Jack Roose serves as a leader on that committee and helps the committee organize classes with all county leaders to ensure the safety of all county workers. Increasing employee awareness will cut down claims and reduce the cost of insurance. Learn whats a hardship permit.

Roose said the safety committee is ready and will work to create a return to work policy for light duty and help reduce claims.
