Would-be Candidates Have Until Noon to File

Candidates for political office in the May primary have until noon local time today to file the necessary paperwork to run for office. Several countywide and township positions are up for grabs. Voters in both Starke and Pulaski Counties will elect new sheriffs. Neither Oscar Cowen nor Mike Gayer can run again due to term limits. Voters in both counties will also elect a prosecuting attorney, coroner, clerk of the circuit court and assessor. County council seats in districts 1 through 4 are also on the ballots in both counties.

Starke County voters will also choose an auditor and a recorder and will elect a district 2 county commissioners representative. Pulaski County voters will elect a surveyor and a representative from county commissioners district 3. Township trustee and board members will also be elected, as will state convention delegates and precinct committeemen.

Candidates for all offices except prosecuting attorney need to file their paperwork in the clerk’s office at the courthouse. Prosecuting attorney candidates file with the secretary of state’s office. WKVI will post a complete list of candidates on Monday, Feb. 10 when we launch our Election Central page on WKVI.com.
