IU Health Starke Hospital has named its new president but it’s a familiar face; Craig Felty was named president of the organization, after being previously named interim administrator after former executive Linda Satkoski retired in December. Felty previously served as executive director of patient care services at IU Health Starke Hospital since January 2011.

Felty brings more than 25 years of patient care and healthcare management experience to the position, having previously worked as patient care manager of the Mitchell Emergency Department at the University of Chicago Medical Center, critical care transport nurse for an ambulance service in Illinois, and director of emergency services for Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill.

Felty also boasts experience as the assistant chief flight nurse for University of Chicago Hospitals and manager of aeromedical services for Loyola University Medical Center. On top of that, he has immediate experience in neonatal and pediatric transport, as a trauma nurse in the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center Emergency Department, legal nurse consulting and volunteer firefighting.

The new president has also been trained in homeland security, pediatric education, neonatal resuscitation, advanced burn life support and emergency medical services. Felty is board certified through the Emergency Nurses Association, and holds numerous certifications for clinical instruction as an educator in his field for other healthcare providers within the region.

He holds a Master of Business Administration with a healthcare focus at Western Governors University. He also received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University Calumet.
