Marcos Ambrose was fined $25,000 last week after his involvement in a post-race incident with Casey Mears at Richmond International Raceway. Ambrose had such overwhelming support from his fans, he wants to pay it forward.

There were so many fans from the United States and Australia who wanted to donate money to help pay his fine in the incident Ambrose came up with another idea.

Ambrose and the team are prepared to pay the fine from potential All-Star Race winnings and donate it to the camp founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty, Victory Junction. The camp was developed in honor of their son, Adam.

“I had a tremendous outpouring of support after Richmond from so many fans,” said Ambrose. “But, that situation was between myself and another driver. I had to pay the consequences from that and my fans had nothing to do with what happened. But, they have been so supportive of me in NASCAR, that maybe there was something we could do so they could make a difference. If they want to support me, they can vote for me and we’ll take the total of the fine and pay it forward to Victory Junction.

“…this is an opportunity to take an unfortunate situation and we can all come together to make a difference. The fans can just vote for me for the All-Star race and I’ll try to race in. We’ll do this together and hopefully do something special.”

If Ambrose wins at Kansas Speedway this weekend, he will be in the All-Star race. If he doesn’t, he will be eligible if he finishes first or second in the Sprint Showdown prior to the All-Star race on May 17 or if the fans vote him into the race. Fans can vote at www.NASCAR.com/SprintFanVote. Voting ends May 16.
