LaPorte Officer, F.O.P. Member under Investigation

Mark Bishop has resigned from the LaPorte City Police Department and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the LaPorte Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.). It is alleged that he made many unauthorized transactions using F.O.P. money for his own use and a criminal investigation into his actions is underway.

The Indiana State Police is conducting the investigation.

F.O.P. President Robert Metcalf said the F.O.P. members will now look to recoup the embezzled money in hopes to be able to forward funds to the organizations and charities with which the F.O.P. has long-standing relationships.

Metcalf said now Bishop will need to “answer for his actions in a court of law”.

LaPorte Police Chief Adam Klimczak stated several thousand dollars has been taken and this matter has been turned over to an outside agency for transparency purposes.
