Marshall County to Deed Property to the City of Plymouth

The Marshall County Commissioners approved a motion to have the county attorney prepare paperwork to assign sale certificates of some property to the city of Plymouth. The parcels are down by the new park by the river.

Treasurer Deb Vandemark approached the commissioners about the properties in question that could not be sold in previous tax sales.

“There are three properties that the commissioners have the lien for that have been on the tax sale for more than three years,” explained Vandemark. “They’re all in the flood plain area. I had talked with [Plymouth] Mayor Mark Senter and he would be interested in those three properties because they are along the river in the flood area. We are not able to sell them. One of the options the commissioners can do with those sale certificates is they can assign them to the city so the city can take the deed to those.”

The commissioners unanimously approved the action. County Attorney Jim Clevenger will prepare a resolution of the transfer of the certificates for the Plymouth city council to approve. City Attorney Sean Surrisi will then draw up a similar resolution for the county to accept the certificates.
