Winamac Council Delays Decision on Town Pool

The Winamac Town Council has put off a decision on building a new town swimming pool for at least another month. The necessary repairs to bring the existing pool at the Pulaski County Family YMCA up to code were deemed too expensive for such an old structure.

Council members have taken bids for a new pool under advisement but say the town doesn’t have the roughly $600,000 necessarily to construct a swimming pool, let alone maintain it for the next 15 to 20 years. They encouraged members of the Pulaski County YMCA Board of Directors to look into raising funds to help offset the cost and possibly find corporate sponsors willing to underwrite the project. The next scheduled Winamac Town Council meeting is Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. EDT at the Winamac Municipal Office building on State Road 14.
