INDOT Announces LaPorte County Road Project

Lanes on U.S. 35/Pine Lake Avenue between State Road 39 and the bridge over the railroad in downtown LaPorte will be restricted for the next few nights so road repairs can be made. Work will begin around 6 each evening, according to a news release from INDOT. Crews will first prepare the pavement by grinding. Microsurface work will begin at 9 p.m. It’s the application of a thin asphalt mixture that seals cracks in aged pavement to prevent potholes and improve friction during the wnter months. Once the treatment is applied it takes an hour or two to fully cure before the road can be reopened to traffic. Work will begin with the outside lanes, which will temporarily block driveway access. INDOT officials say all lanes will reopen to traffic prior to rush hour each morning. The entire project should take between two and three days to complete.
