Knox Mayor Rick Chambers informed the city council this week that a new crossing guard is needed for the new school year. It’s a part time position and the candidate will be required to assist children in the morning and in the afternoon at the intersection at Main Street and Culver Road all school year. Any interested candidates can call the mayor’s office at 772-4553.

The mayor said he has money in his budget to get some help with the city’s website. Chambers said a person has met with his administrative assistant to work on some ideas.

Some security improvements are being considered for the city’s parks. At the last city council meeting, the formation of a task force was discussed. Mayor Chambers said he hasn’t been able to set up a meeting for this yet but recommended lighting improvements and a video system for the park. The mayor suggested some sensor lighting and perimeter lighting. Nothing was approved but will be discussed when he meets with members of the park board and the police department.
